Characterised by a capillary presence and a profound  social impact, this region operates in contexts of great religious and cultural diversity,  positioning itself as a fundamental point of reference for  education and the development of young people in the peripheries of the world.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Organisation and  Provinces<\/strong><br \/>\n              The Region is  structured in <strong>twelve Provinces<\/strong>, with a  concentration particularly significant in the Indian subcontinent:<br \/>\n              &#8211; India: Bangalore (INK), Bombay  (INB), Calcutta (INC), Dimapur (IND), Guwahati (ING), Hyderabad (INH), Madras  (INM), New Delhi (INN), Panjim (INP), Shillong (INS), Tiruchy (INT)<br \/>\n              &#8211; Sri Lanka (LKC)<\/p>\n<p>This structure enables the Congregation to govern effectively the complexity of very vast territories, guaranteeing a constant presence alongside local populations.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Geographical Extension<\/strong><br \/>\n              Salesian activity develops in <strong>six countries<\/strong>, embracing contexts that range from the Himalayan ranges to the metropolitan areas of the Persian Gulf: Bangladesh, the United Arab Emirates, India, Kuwait, Nepal and Sri Lanka.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Educational Presence and  Social Service<\/strong><br \/>\n              The figures of the South  Asia Region testify to the magnitude of the commitment: almost three thousand Salesians animate and coordinate the activities in more than four hundred  houses. It is an imposing network that comprises schools of every order and  degree, centres of vocational training of excellence, universities, oratories and  numerous works dedicated specifically to the recovery of street children and to  support for rural populations.<br \/>\n              In this Region, the  charism of Don Bosco is translated into a constant commitment to the emancipation  of the most disadvantaged classes through education.
